Community Events

To support our amazing community of families, teachers, and staff, the WH PTA supports several activities and events to strengthen and build our student and parent community. Check the calendar for exact dates of these amazing events. 

New Family Welcome

Walnut Heights PTA welcomes new student families by organizing summer playdates, hosting a family picnic at the beginning of the school year, and provides each new student with a surprise welcome bag over the course of the year. 

Teacher Appreciation 

The Walnut Heights PTA provides each teacher with a yearly stipend to stock their classrooms with all the little extras our kids love. We shower them with breakfast and snacks throughout the year and host a week long celebration each spring. Thank you teachers, you are amazing! 

Ice Cream Social

The Annual Walnut Heights Ice Cream Social held at the beginning of the school year is one Walnut Heights tradition you won't want to miss. This community event is open to all students, families, and alumni. Come hang out with your new classmates, get to know other Cougar families, burn that sugar off running around the playground all while you enjoy some delicious ice cream compliments of the PTA. There will be dairy free popsicles and as always all events at Walnut Heights are nut free. 

Walk to school

Schools all across the globe will join us in walking, biking, skipping and rolling to school during a designated week in the fall. Not only is it good for your body, but the environment benefits too. Consider getting a group of parents and kids to walk to school that week. We will have drop off points at Walnut Blvd./McConnell Lane and Walnut Blvd./Frasier Drive. Kids will be escorted to school by a chaperone who will help them safely get to school and receive a prize. Don’t worry, every child can receive a prize regardless of how they arrive at school.

Carnival 

The Walnut Heights Carnival is a favorite fall day filled with games, bounce houses, popcorn and sno-cones! This event is a great way to hang with your friends and enjoy a day playing at school. 

Yearbook 

The Walnut Heights PTA provides a yearbook for every student. We believe every student should have a keepsake with all the special moments from this past year. Go Cougars!
